Solid Gold by a nose, baby. Entertainment! lacks bass, which is really evident if you listen to the Peel disc and is strange for a band that married funk rhythm to punk noise. It also wears their punk inspiration more, whereas SG goes more sparse and dark, more properly post-punk. The two records are an unbeatable one-two to the head, but the second record is more affecting.

I prefer Entertainment because I think it has better songs.

This is really tough as both are very high on my list of favorites. Solid Gold has better harsh funk while Entertainment has more impact somehow.

I just want to go off topic to say that the Go4 reunion show I saw in 2005 was one of the best shows I'd ever seen in my life. Seeing four 50 year old guys rock harder than a hundred thousand Millennials renewed my faith in humanity. Even if Hugo did crap out in the last encore.
