I certainly *can* concentrate when I choose to; the technology, tho, means that I can indulge the "oh look a squirrel" side of my personality.
Ha! that fucking squirrel gets everywhere. ;)
Respect the squirrel, patron animal of the fidgety mind.
Probably patron animal of the absent mind for me.

Now where did I leave that squirrel?
I can see me buying this box set and squirrelling it away for ages without listening to it fully
Buying all these box sets is getting to be nuts. ;)

The irony in all this is that I (a person with diagnosed and fairly severe ADHD that affects my life directly in numerous negative ways) usually listen to whole albums.
Do you think it's some kind of unconscious therapy to provide stability, or just an idiosyncrasy within the ADHD?
I think it’s my brain still thinks in albums. If I don’t listen to whole albums, I shuffle huge playlists and take what I get like it’s the radio.
I'm Randian. *I* control what I will listen to (read: rape) and quickly move on to conquer new territory, parasitical filler tracks consigned to collectivist oblivion.

I'm just reading reports on the Hoffman forum about some serious f-ups with the new Gof4 box set (vinyl version - CD not released til April)
Someone reports that the singles album is missing, and that record sleeve contained an extra copy of LP1 from the live double album. Which, to be fair, Matador Records is replacing, but you can bet they won't be alone.
But more worryingly, the count-in and guitar riff intro to 'I Found That Essence Rare' is missing. The track just starts 'cold' with the full band kicking in.
I've heard of remasters sometimes accidentally omitting a count-in or random guitar note, but this is about 20 seconds of audio!
Matador claim this is how the band wanted it remastered, that the intro was originally added to the master take, and this corrects that - which sounds like complete cobblers to me. If the band were unhappy with it at the time, why did they always play it live with the intro intact?

The Peel session also has the lead-in. Bullshit that the band never wanted that. If the surviving members prefer it without the lead-in, so be it, but throw that on the odds n sods disc, not the main album.

from a purely marketing and merch perspective, they missed a trick by not advertising it as a brand new band-approved single edit or something and making it a new track they could hype with a new 7 inch release and so forth. always add to the catalog, never replace, imho

My course becomes more clear. Thank god for Hoffman forums though. And jeers to almost every single remaster in the world.

I miss those days.

Back on topic though, maybe it's just post-punk stuff that gets the shaft with remasters, but the Banshees and New Order remasters are still recent wounds for me.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to even get tracks in the right order.
