I've always loved the Hawaii Five-O theme = any version makes me smile, but check out the Ventures' take on it. Double drums attack, and what appears to be Charles Bronson on lead guitar...

Re: Great Instrumentals
Gotta disagree. Though the MG's are one of my favorite bands and Al Jackson a top 5 drum hero/influence, I think the Clash's version is one of those rare tracks that tops the original. The way it builds with the slide, then piano, then tenor sax coming in - and all the while Topper's just pushing and pulling with these super cool fills and accents - it's really a showcase track for Tops. By contrast the MG's version is very static (which they were masters of, but most effective behind a dynamic singer), and doesn't really travel far.Silent Majority wrote: ↑09 Aug 2019, 3:04amBooker T and the MGs is definitely better than the Clash's.101Walterton wrote: ↑09 Aug 2019, 1:20amI was watching The Manson Tapes last night and they used (what I presume is) the original version of Time Is Tight as backing music.

Hello,
I always thought this track could have fit in on a Havana 3 AM album.

Beastie Boys - Off the Grid
Both of the Beastie Boys instrumental records are excellent.

Excellent call, both highlighting it and suggesting the overlap.
