I'm inclined to agree with this, especially on the issue of "Bullet." Blew me away when I first heard it, which was sadly very late since it's so out of print.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑09 Aug 2019, 9:11pmJust gonna say this from the jump: the Selector were at least as good, maybe better than the Specials. Their second album, 'Celebrate the Bullet', might the best single album of the Two Tone wave. Plus Pauline was a great singer whilst Terry Hall was, uhm, a bit twee, shall we say...
Are I joking I, mon? It's nice, but operative word being "white". Very little blue beat riddim. Try this one for size - I think Panic Report should cover it but jack up the BPM's considerably. (btw - got "not available in your country" thingy for "Rudi's In Love", looked it up, said 'live BBC 1968'. Same version that you posted, yeah?)
No mate, different version. The one you mention sounds well lacking in the groove dept.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑12 Aug 2019, 8:08pm(btw - got "not available in your country" thingy for "Rudi's In Love", looked it up, said 'live BBC 1968'. Same version that you posted, yeah?)
Gotcha. I'll dig a bit further, see if I can find it (was it on an album or just a single?).Heston wrote: ↑12 Aug 2019, 8:19pmNo mate, different version. Single. I thought they were black for about 25 years until I saw a picture of them a couple of years back..muppet hi fi wrote: ↑12 Aug 2019, 8:25pmGotcha. Funny when that happens. When I was coming up, with '70s radio, I often couldn't tell either and was always surprised, both ways. (might be a fun thread topic?).Heston wrote: ↑12 Aug 2019, 8:29pmSingle.
