Yeah. David Watts is better by the Kinks and there is a better alternate version of Billy Hunt that was on the Direction, Reaction, Creation box set.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Still not a fan of that version, overall it feels like a track they felt they had to churn out. They could have done better.

Agreed, pretty average in comparison the the rest of the album. Every Jam album had a dud or two though.BitterTom wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 4:42pmStill not a fan of that version, overall it feels like a track they felt they had to churn out. They could have done better.

The first 2 albums especially I'd agree but Setting Sons is perfect.Heston wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 4:47pmAgreed, pretty average in comparison the the rest of the album. I don't really like Girl On the Phone. Even worse that it's the opener. Also, Heatwave sounds tacked on. They never made a perfect album imo.BitterTom wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 4:53pmThe first 2 albums especially I'd agree but Setting Sons is perfect.Heston wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 4:47pmAgreed, pretty average in comparison the the rest of the album. Girl On The Phone is in my top 10 Jam songs 100%, slightly agree with Heatwave though. They should have left covers alone.Heston wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 4:57pmI don't really like Girl On the Phone. Not quite top ten, but I love the power pop drive of Girl on the Phone.

Heatwave was tacked on. Weller was writing a concept album but ran out of songs / time so scrapped the idea. Heatwave was added to make up numbers.Heston wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 4:57pmI don't really like Girl On the Phone. Even worse that it's the opener. Also, Heatwave sounds tacked on.
