Friday Poll Thread #9 - Best "Born To Run"
I know Bruce is a god around here but I honestly think Frankie gave it a good overhaul. Instrumentation is better and the note Holly hits on the last "born to run" totally rocks. I always feel the original is on the wrong speed, but in fairness I heard the FGTH version first, so that may have a bearing.

No, I always made it clear in these threads that a neutral position denotes a vote for the KISS version.

To quote an old Wolter post about me...
You never have, and never will, understand anything about good music

Re: Friday Poll Thread #9 - Best "Born To Run"
That could well be true, but this poll isn't about good music so your comment isn't relevant.

Oh really? With whom? I thought the only gods around here were cheap, bloodless, sexless, soulless, whiny no-account acts, often British...

Is it just me or does the Frankie version intro sound like SEH?

Is tha Jizzle still around?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Hello,
Frankie loses due to better diction.

And Hoy is not like the usual "everything he does is diamonds and pearls, his live show is a literal preview of heaven!" Springsteen fan.
