They missed a golden opportunity to make Paul McCartney the first Ramone.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but Halfway to Sanity is an underrated classic.

Nah, it's all the way classic. I love mid to late 80's Ramones....actually I love all Ramones except Mondo and Acid EatersWestwayKid wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 11:35pmPossibly an unpopular opinion, but Halfway to Sanity is an underrated classic.

I used to think Halfway was only only halfway good. Oh what a fool I was. Great set of tunes. Especially the front half of the album.
RAMONES never made a bad record, and that's a fact.
Edit: a fool again!

Daniel Rey's production was perfect for their sound.coffeepotman wrote: ↑12 Aug 2022, 7:45amNah, it's all the way classic. Re: R.A.M.O.N.E.S.
So I was correct. Halfway great and halfway good.
I agree no bad RAMONES album.
My fave of the later albums is "Too Tough to Die" that album is complete quality.

Re: R.A.M.O.N.E.S.
I got really into their last couple albums this summer. I think they ended on a pretty high note - their sound got slightly heavier and some more psych influence (made obvious with their covers record) but still very obviously RAMONES. Fuckin' near-perfect band.

One thing I really don't like is Bill Laswell's production of Brain Drain, that drum sound is painful on the ears

While waiting for the End of the Century super deluxe, if it ever comes out, I did find something new, to me anyway, on YT. 1989 Dee Dee Demos
