Tom and Heston still rise in the west and set in the east. :ohboy:

I stand with SM. "Friday I'm in Love" is as perfect a pop song a the rock era has produced. Very honourable mention to "Baby Love" and "Play That Funky Music."
"Grab some wood, bub.'" - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft

Hello,

I have never understood the song Africa by Toto. Is there anything suggestive of Africa or anything African (aside from the word Africa in the title and lyrics) in the song? Admittedly, I tried to read the lyrics on a youtube video but couldn't last.

A horrible song by a horrible band, be secure in your continued ignorance on this subject.

Play That Funky Music is the only one that doesn't do much for me. Beyond that, it's a perfectly good playlist.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I honestly don’t care who wins as long as Toto only has two votes.

A clear and concise assessment. I could see it possibly if it was some kind "okay, Boomer" mockery, but it seems to widespread not to be sincere.

I dont understand people liking it. I wish I was unaware of it's existence. And it isn't ironically cool to do a cover of it either. I dont think even a death metal band could redeem that song.
