Play That Funky Music is the only one that doesn't do much for me. Beyond that, it's a perfectly good playlist.
The Maroon 5 one makes me want to rip my ears clean off.

Same applies to the rest of their material.
Sugar is a great song. They bust out a great single every three or so years. They’ve had a remarkably long career all things considered.
The first album was sort of uniquely funky at the time it came out. I don't mind listening to it but I can't get interested in anything after that.

I find the Cure song massively overrated. Dreary as fuck and I hate those stupid noises he makes.

But it's still better than anything else on the list.

Toto and Wild Cherry are much better. So is Baby Love but I prefer the Phil Collins version..

I remember VH1 pushing "Harder to Breathe" which was more typical of the sound at the time. My ears definitely perked up with "This Love" which sounded unique and fresh at the time.

I've enjoyed plenty of singles since then, particularly the aforementioned "Sugar" as well as the more recent excellent SZA guest spot "What Lovers Do." They are supremely crafted lite R&B pop songs. Can't pretend I don't enjoy them. It's like shitting on Bruno Mars, I get it, but look past the obnoxious aspects and you have some great tunes.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

That when i google dancing in the moonlight the first thing that comes up is that shit version by toploader and not king harvest or van morrison or even the equally fine song of the same name by thin lizzy just makes me incredibly sad. Lionel Richie is ok, though.

The Toploader song is very much a s'alright kind of tune. Painfully mediocre.

Hello,

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lean on Me. I'm not much for emotion-drenched songs but I always thought Bill Withers delivery was very good. I know it's been used in a bunch of commercials and redone by Timex Social Club (if I remember correctly) but still thought it would get a better (or at least a) reaction.

Yep one of those old classics, doesn’t do much for me though.
