Wednesday Poll #2 Best Song Ever...
Wednesday Poll #2 Best Song Ever...
...On the work's playlist. This week had some classics on, better than previous week. My vote has to be with one of my favourite 80s records, Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Fantastic number.

The Verve all the way, totally iconic song. Chuck bringing up the rear.

Was between chuck and van, good old school rock, the former just by a nose. Would have voted tff if it was Sowing the seeds.

You're just baiting us here.
"Everybody Wants …" is one of those songs that seems to capture some sort of essence of 80s pop (mostly in a good way), but "Johnny B. Goode" is foundational music and still swings like a motherfucker.
Honourable mention to "Jamming" and "These Boots …". "Bittersweet Symphony" is miserablist, mopey, self-cutting music that is used by CIA torture agents who find waterboarding ineffective.

Oh wait. Johnny B. Goode was recorded before 1964 so Heston doesn’t know it exists.

I'm trying to believe in the best scenario for your words.

Some great songs mixed with two god awful songs: BSS and Tears for Fears. I barely remember Simply Red. Wasn’t it some 80s soft rock with a fire crotch lead singer?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Yup. The only cool thing about Mick Hucknall was that he was at the legendary Pistols show in Manchester along with future members of Joy Division, Mark E. Smith, and Morrissey. He loses all those cool points, tho, for making shitty white soul music.

Tough call (and yeah, Chuck's the obvious choice) but I co-sign w/ Heston.

Wait—how can CB be the obvious choice, but you're agreeing with the guy who has him last? His pick is awful for more than one reason (which, I guess, kudos for the efficiency).JoseUnidos wrote: ↑05 Feb 2020, 10:43amTough call (and yeah, Chuck's the obvious choice) but I co-sign w/ Heston.

I worded it wrong saying "bringing up the rear", I meant Chuck in second place.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 Feb 2020, 10:50amWait—how can CB be the obvious choice, but you're agreeing with the guy who has him last?
