Going with Chuck Berry, as is almost everyone else it seems, but that IS a mostly pretty good collection of songs. Nancy would be a close second in my books.
I almost voted Nancy until I read it more carefully. I cannot in good conscience vote against JBG.
I feel I didn't vote against JBG as it doesn't belong on that list for me.

I barely remember Simply Red. Wasn’t it some 80s soft rock with a fire crotch lead singer?
Yup. The only cool thing about Mick Hucknall was that he was at the legendary Pistols show in Manchester along with future members of Joy Division, Mark E. Smith, and Morrissey. He loses all those cool points, tho, for making shitty white soul music.
As this is a Clash forum it has to be noted that Mick Hucknalll is in the classic "So It Goes" footage of the band playing at the Elizabethan Suite, Manchester.
His total cool number is still in the toilet, tho, right?
He was in a punk band called The Frantic Elevators who did an ok track. As for Simply Red I like their first single "Money Too Tight To Mention" which is a cover version.
After that I'd sooner hammer nails into my feet than listen to him.
You're still too generous. :shifty:

JBG is a good song but I would rarely choose to put it on compared to others on the list.

Not even Holding Back the Years?
It's OK but after that first album everything is bloody awful blandness.

Well, I've played it 4 times today since it was mentioned in the list. Haven't played any of the others.

Hello,

This is a good list - maybe tie Bob and Van Jammin' is a bit generic but really good beat.

Nah, knew I'd be in the minority with this but Chuck just isn't my bag personally.

I guess I listed order of artist preference. For songs swap Nancy and Bob. 1 and 2 remain. All the rest I recognize as horrible.

My take is to think of having to listen to the playlist 8 hrs a day for a week. In this scenario the "best" song is the song I would least get sick of hearing.

To be fair to them, their playlist supposedly has thousands and thousands of songs and it's on random.

Oh and I'm too busy working to really notice! ;)
