I love the Elton track as it reminds me of being a kid. It has a brilliant melody and a lovely sentiment. So shove that up your back in black.
Not quite Rocket Man but a solid track
I grew to love Rocket Man and Daniel a few years back but Your Song has never clicked with me.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

This list isn't great but I'd still like to know who put Walking On Sunshine at the top.

Surprisingly I went for Elton John. Have heard it quite a lot recently after the film, docu and Oscars stuff.
I still struggle to understand how Bernie Taupin can write those lyrics without a tune in his head

Never been a fan of WW even though I likes reasonable slice of Oasis.

I would have put a tenner on you going for WW. Not my favourite either though have to say it's on a good album.

I would imagine it's just like writing poetry. The harder part is putting it to music and making it sound natural.

Lot of his lyrics do read like poetry so would guess that was his inclination. There's a scene in the film where bernie writes the Your Song lyric at the kitchen table, hands it to Elton, goes upstairs for a shower and when he returns the song is done and dusted. Bit of poetic license no doubt, but still not too far from reality i think.

I loathe AC/DC and love Futurama, so Katrina gets it.

Wonderwall is incredibly shit for the reputation it has. Dreary, meaningless, out of key singing, it ticks all the wrong boxes.
Yet you champion "Bittersweet Sympathy." I look forward to dissecting your brain one day to locate the cog that keeps skipping.
Except that it has excellent lyrics and a spot on vocal.
All true except for everything you say. (The vocal isn't as bad as "Wonderwall," but it's only spot-on in the sense of stepping on my last nerve.)
They're both completely tuneless.

But that's apparently the virtue in the one. It's meaningful or something.

Back in Black by a mile, because I love riffs.

Your Song and Sunshine are great.

Wonderwall is absolute trash. Just a terrible song and everyone who has ever played it on an acoustic guitar at a party is getting a lava enema in hell one day.

EDIT: the ABBA song is a’ight. Not one of their best.

Apparently not, I watched the EJ docu / interview and he told the same story of writing that song.

Back in Black by miles, Walking on Sunshine would be the only other thing that might register but Id also be fine to never hear it again.
