Wednesday Poll #7 Best Song Ever...
Re: Wednesday Poll #7 Best Song Ever...
Surprised with the amount of support to a fair but not exceptional Elvis number compared to an overplayed but quality Queen track, solid Stones number and of course Armatrading.
Re: Wednesday Poll #7 Best Song Ever...
Don't know the Armatrading song but "Start Me Up" is a mediocre Stones song at best and Queen bores me to tears.

Surprised Start Me Up isn't doing better.

Yellow Submarine - The Beatles - 4/10 - Not a patch on Octopus' Garden
Hold The Line - Toto - 6/10 - Fairly decent track for its genre
Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus - 7/10 - Love the lyric and a great tune
Woman - John Lennon - 6/10 - A decent melody but a bit dreary and a shit lyric
Mighty Quinn - Manfred Mann - 9/10 - I've always loved this track
Love And Affection - Joan Armatrading - 8/10 - Another excellent song, love the build up and release
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley - 7/10 - I've never been a big fan of Elvis but this is a good one
All Right Now - Free - 6/10 - So overplayed but I like the breakdown bit
Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones - 7/10 - A bright spot in the heaving mess of their 80s output
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen - 9/10 - Great great song but I don't need to hear it any more

Per Heston:
Yellow Submarine - The Beatles - 7/10 - Fun
Hold The Line - Toto - 0/10 - Shit
Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus - 0/10 - Shit
Woman - John Lennon - 3/10 - One of Lennon's worst solo songs
Mighty Quinn - Manfred Mann - 9/10 - With Heston on this one
Love And Affection - Joan Armatrading - 6/10 - A fine song
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley - 9/10 - Great song, don't care if it's overproduced or overplayed. The King is The King.
All Right Now - Free - 6/10 - Again, with Heston
Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones - 8/10 - Again, with Heston. One of the Stones last, great gasps of talent.
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen - 6/10 - About par on the Free song for me. Decent classic rock stuff but not what I love.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Why do no Americans like Wheatus? It seems tailor made for y'all with the references to Iron Maiden and guns. Yet, we Brits made it a smash hit and it tanked in America!
