If I was a betting man and could guess which 2 would receive no votes (so far) I'd have gone with Quo but certainly not The Beatles.
To be fair, it's a pretty crappy Beatles song. Paul could reliably come up with some truly inane topics. For every "Eleanor Rigby" and "Yesterday," he'd excrete a "Rita."
One of my favourites off my favourite album of theirs. Yeah the topic is dull I'll give you that but the melody brings a smile to my face.
I'm with you, I think Lovely Rita is excellent. Exquisite melody. Yesterday is actually the song I think is pretty crappy.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

As skippable as "Within You Without You." The concept for the album may have been Paul's, but John's work dominated.

I'll give you that WYWY is a duff track but it is a top album.

Funny, I don't think I've heard that Beatles track. Or the Status Quo one unless it's the Fogerty cover in which case I have only heard Bruce's version.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It's the Beatles so of course it's great, but it's not one I return that much.

I went with "Let's Spend the Night Together", cuz, ya know..."Dancing Queen" is great too (not as great as "Waterloo" or "S.O.S.", but whatever - great band ABBA were). "Rockin' All Over the World" is a great song but Status Quo's version is pretty bloodless, especially the singer (understandable tho, competing with John Fogerty).

The two popular ones would get tossed out in favor of yet a lesser song?

The lesser songs get chucked out as well, only the winners of each week get to the final. Mind you it works better with 10 in the final so I'll do a playoff if they are still level.
