Lotta great songs on this one (even tho James blunt is unlistenable), gonna take a minute to think on it.
You're gonna think on James Blunt?

A lot of possibilities here, more than most of the polls. Only a couple that I'd never consider picking, but none that easily stand out for me, either. I went with the Byrds, tho, but only because they hadn't had a vote yet.
I went with the Byrds because it's a great cover. I usually hate voting against Philip Bailey on anything, but, even though I actually kind of like the song, I cannot vote for anything Phil Collins in good conscience.

I was curious whether your Philip Bailey support would allow you to ignore his running mate.

My Bob-tendencies couldn't be overcome - went with the Byrds' most excellent cover. Could have gone for Whole Lotta Love, Band on the Run, Paradise City or, especially, California Dreamin' in a pinch tho. The rest of the songs are mostly pretty bad.

Lots of good ones here but the mood of California Dreamin' hits my sweet spot every time.

Never even heard that Oasis song. I'm guessing it's big in the UK.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It was when it came out. As with a lot of Oasis, it's very much overrated and rather a dull affair.

It was even more whiney than usual. The most overrated band to ever come from these shores.

Agreed on both counts. It's hard to think of a more successful UK band, and one that achieved a fair bit of critical acclaim, yet whose work was so bloody thin.

I've said it before and it fits in nicely with what's being discussed in The Beatles thread. But it's that Beatles connection that made Oasis so popular.

I remember Billy Bragg calling Oasis the world's most successful Beatles tribute band.
