I couldn’t find the appropriate thread but came across this piece of trivia which I thought was up there with the Lieutenant Pigeon question!!

Which is the only band ever to be knocked off the #1 spot by a band containing siblings of a band member?
Crowded House?
Never had a UK number one.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Don’t think Tim Finn or Split Enz did either.

I can only think of maybe The Osmonds or perhaps The Jackson's.

I take from the question they're both bands, as opposed to solo artists, and one of them has two or more siblings. Not that that helps much or anything to be fair

They are both ‘bands’ as in both are not solo.

I feel like this is one of those questions when I will realise I knew the answer, but only after you tell us. Are we talking early 80s/New Romantic era by any chance? And proper bands, so not Band Aid and whatever was number 1 before or after that?

Two bands both of whom had several hit singles so no one off Band Aid type scenario.

Thanks. Am I warm with the era or is that too much of a clue?

No not close.
A clue is that I find this fact more interesting that it has never happened before or since when you think of Osmonds, Jackson’s, Gibbs, Gallaghers etc than who the actual artists are.

Thanks, I'll keep thinking. I will also have to try to remember which New Romantic band, if any, had a younger sibling of another New Romantic band.

It wasn't the Nolans, was it? There were hundreds of them :)

Would it help if we were to think of the question more zonally than in terms of eras?
