Yes you're right of course Marky, I thought about Top 5 after I had posted. Made Of Stone got to no 90 on 1st release, no 20 on re-release. VP was one of the very 1st 7" singles I bought back in 1972 along with Wigwam Bam and Mama Weer All Crazee Now!Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Jun 2020, 3:29pmThe key to the question is "Top 5" I don't think "Made of Stone" made the Top 5. But "Viriginia Plain" sounds correct to me.AudioAmmunition wrote: ↑13 Jun 2020, 11:04amVirginia Plain, Roxy Music and Made of Stone, Stone Roses both have title only sung as last words. I can't take full credit though, I already knew about Virginia Plain but it was a phone in on last week's RadMac show connecting the 3 tracks (the other being Up The Junction).

"The Crunch" by the Rah Band just misses out. UK no 6.

Re: Trivia Question
Yeah, I remember it in the top 40 at the time and thinking "what is this shite" as the single bass note plunked away for what seemed like 5 minutes.Low Down Low wrote: ↑14 Jun 2020, 9:09amForgot that was such a big hit. Really like it but just doesn't seem all that single friendly. Not a big fan or anything but love over gold is an album i like.

Although hideous monstrosities both Money For Nothing and Twisting by the Pool seemed much more chart friendly but fared worse. Was Private Investigations not maybe released before the album and their fans rushed out to buy it en masse? That's the way things sometimes worked back then

Re: Trivia Question
I did some investigating and single was indeed released first so could well have been the case. Didn't chart at all in the states.Heston wrote: ↑14 Jun 2020, 10:09amYeah.Low Down Low wrote: ↑14 Jun 2020, 10:00amAlthough hideous monstrosities both Money For Nothing and Twisting by the Pool seemed much more chart friendly but fared worse.
