There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

But Heston doesn't know what metal is, so they might find common ground.

Rush, Van Halen, Kiss, long hair and screechy lyrics, it's all metal to me. Did it look out of place on a sleeveless denim jacket in 1980? That's all you need to ask.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 May 2020, 7:11pmBut Heston doesn't know what metal is, so they might find common ground.

Did those bands think themselves metal? Did fans think it was metal? Was it promoted as metal? As I've said before, sure, anyone can come up with their own working definition and apply it to their heart's content, but if they're looking to persuade, taking into account how others view it is kind of important.Heston wrote: ↑24 May 2020, 7:16pmRush, Van Halen, Kiss, long hair and screechy lyrics, it's all metal to me. The Jam were my favorite metal band. The Who come in second just ahead of the Beatles.

Re: For all of us Shitallica fans
I still think there's a schism between the US and UK on metal. Rush were definitely lumped in with Maiden, Priest etc in the early 80s over here. My mates were happy to wear the patches of all of those bands. It's down to whether you interpret it as heavy rock or heavy metal. To me, if they were in the Kerrang they were metal. That will be why I ended up going to see April Wine.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 May 2020, 7:23pmDid those bands think themselves metal? Did fans think it was metal? Was it promoted as metal? Anyway, no one is arguing with this list. That's because it's the Daddy of metal lists. Put those ten songs on in a row motherfuckers. I will see you all in hell.Heston wrote: ↑24 May 2020, 11:59amThat'll be one of these...Marky Dread wrote: ↑23 May 2020, 7:28pmYou might like it but surely you don't agree that it's the best ever metal song.
Crazy Train
Touch Too Much
Living After Midnight
Spirit of Radio
Run To the Hills
Lady of the Lake
Paranoid
Ain't Talking 'Bout Love
Ace of Spades

I know you fall into this trap with Hoy a lot, but two wrongs don’t make a right.

So Marillion were like super metal then right? They were always in Kerrang.Heston wrote: ↑24 May 2020, 8:14pmI still think there's a schism between the US and UK on metal. Re: For all of us Shitallica fans
KISS were definitely considered metal in many circles, but for some reason Heston is good at ignoring that.

Well that was a bit later, I'm talking 80/81. We invented metal so I'm pretty sure we can define it how we see fit.revbob wrote: ↑24 May 2020, 8:32pmSo Marillion were like super metal then right?
