That, Nightswimming and Orange Crush are my favourites of REM.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 12:46pmOf their 21st c records, the only REM song that I can say that I like is "Imitation of Life." Cool, trippy video, too.

REM never grabbed me too much. The latter stuff was particularly uninspiring.

I think this is the first major musical division between us. I don't know whether to sleep on the couch or arrange for couple's therapy.Kory wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 12:57pmI hate the Pixies and my first show with that band I was in was a Pixies tribute night. All solid picks. I think their greatest achievement is "It's the End of the World …," but "Harborcoat" is my favourite.BitterTom wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 1:54pmThat, Nightswimming and Orange Crush are my favourites of REM.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 12:46pmOf their 21st c records, the only REM song that I can say that I like is "Imitation of Life." Here's my unasked for REM top 5. I'm gonna put them on now before Top of the Pops 89 starts.BitterTom wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 2:34pmNear Wild Heaven an addition to mine. Pixies are a band I don’t think about for months or years then obsessively listen to as I ask myself “why don’t I listen to them more?”Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 6:42amPixies are a band that I'll listen to obsessively for a couple weeks, then nothing for years. No idea why.

EDIT: my left field favorite REM song is “Feeling Gravity’s Pull.” Fables of the Reconstruction isn’t as immediately accessibke as some of their albums, but the older I get the more it becomes my favorite.

Definitely my favourite album of theirs. A very Southern gothic record in mood. It just oozes kudzu, Spanish moss, and abandoned plantations.
