, thousands are sailing,
I'm pretty sure Shane sings this on the album.
Ah, ok. Not sure where phil version comes from but that's my default one for the song. It's a goodun regardless, pogues had as many good songwriters as they had singers.
There's a Pogues documentary where he sings it with an acoustic in a record shop and it's brilliant. Much better than the album version.
I have a studio version he did on my music player somewhere, least i always thought it was studio anyway. Could be wrong though. I'm sure shane did a great job but i was a big fan of Phil from his earlier punk days and love his voice and lyrics. Great addition to the pogues but should have been bigger with his own band imo.
I think there was a studio version on the "Look Them In the Eye" box set.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Could be and there was an old bbc doc on irish music called Bringing It All Back Home which has a studio version, that's the one i was thinking of. I'd say the live versions are the best though.

:shifty:
He technically had the best voice in KISS. Just couldn't lay off the booze.
I'm going to go out on the strongest limb imaginable and say that the booze is not the problem here.

Happy by the Stones would be my choice.
I know that’s a Stones classic but I never got into it. Any Keith lead vocal for the matter. His voice is really unappealing.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Hello,

I actually like Keith's vocals - yes, really nasal-y and really different sounding when listening to a Stones song - but I like it. Maybe it's because it gives me a break/it's something different from Mick's voice. This may be my favorite:

Mick's not a good singer by any means, but I like his voice a good bit. Any Keith vocal is just not for me - Soul Survivor alt take is just abysmal, intro to Salt of the Earth (it's a sweet relief when Mick joins, not unlike Joe taking over Something About England), and Before They Make Me Run.

Little T&A isn't bad though. Lots of good backing vocals which helps.

Found that BBC version on YouTube. Good to finally hear a studio version with PC on vocals, though I'd agree the live versions are superior.

Was surprised how many covers of this song exist btw.
Who pfaffed the pfaff? Who got pfaffed tonight?
