Vic Godard and the Subway Sect

Post by laxman »

For those who may be interested, he has been releasing digital download versions of his albums on Bancamp to purchase, one very Friday.

Latest one is Live in Stereo.

Thanks for that laxman, I'll check it out. Vic Godard's got quite a back catalogue these days.

I've just discovered that an old Vic gig is on one of those 'Access All Areas' CD/DVD sets released a while back. You can find these for about £5-6 now, a bargain. There's a really diverse range of acts in the series and some others of interest are Buzzcocks (x2), and The Selecter.
The Demon label website lets you sample some of the video clips bit in Vic's case, they've got the full show...

I have that CD/DVD set thanks. It's definitely worth having. Edwyn Collins in the band at that time. I'll have a look at the link to the other ones, thanks.

I suspect Vic Godard is a bit of an acquired taste, but I think worth investing the time. A very varied catalogue.

Mick Jones - produced Vic Godard album on it's way soon. Here's a link to a limited release. I assume regular formats will be available too, but not seen them advertised yet;

I thought it might be of interest to you. It was pre Covid (October 2019) so I can't really remember too much about them now other than they sounded good, but I heard them play a few of the new tracks at a show in Manchester.

I had been interested pre covid. Then I completely forgot about it. Bought the vinyl didn't see a cd version.

My vinyl arrived, but has just gone back for replacement, due to a very long scratch across 3 tracks on side 1!
I did give it a spin though and liked it.
Customary quirky lyrics and catchy tunes, and some unmistakable backing vocals here and there from mr Jones….

Bad news, I hope you get sorted.

Playing it now for the second time, very enjoyable. Since the '80s is a great opener.

The square flexi disc is good too, a bit of a tight fit but just about got it on to the turntable.

There's no music at all on the 20 signed postcards that came with mine.

I didn't get that many, I think I have 3 signed and a couple of others unsigned. The flexi disc was inside the magazine.
