I'd say you're relatively safe, but what do I know. Just remember the whipped cream. And throw in a "Küss die Hand" occasionally.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑20 May 2021, 7:37amI've always denied the literal existence of cigars—does that count?Olaf wrote: ↑20 May 2021, 7:30amJust admit you always wanted to kill your father and sleep with your mother, and put whipped cream on everything.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑20 May 2021, 6:33amLeaving me trapped with my id singing do re mi.Olaf wrote: ↑20 May 2021, 3:26amI'd throw both volumes of "The Man Without Qualities" at them and then leg it.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 May 2021, 2:31pm

I wish I could find the clip (I can't even think of its name) but Falco was in some cheap-ass movie in the 80s where, as I recall, he was stopped by a cop and pleads with him, "I'm Falco! I'm Falco!" Now that's true Austria.Olaf wrote: ↑20 May 2021, 7:45amI'd say you're relatively safe, but what do I know. Just remember the whipped cream. For the rest of my days, the name Jim Morrison will evoke this:

Chaila - Denise Chaila.
Real cool attitude and delivery. Love the beat and the backing. I wish it did more musically once it got going, but this is cool. 7/10
Fixer Upper - Yard Act
Not going to rate this because I don't really get it. Backing instrumentation is really good and I think they are just mocking/parodying gentrifiers with the vocals, but the spoken delivery doesn't really work for me.
Laugh Laugh - The Beau Brummels
Your descriptions are always spot on and this is no exception. I dig this. The verse melody reminds me of another song of the time that I can't just figure out and it's bugging me. I like the sorta minor key verse and the bright major key chorus. Harmonica and backing vocals are a nice touch. 7.5/10
Stepping Razor - Peter Tosh
I know this from Sublime's bizarrely effective cover, but it's great to hear the original. Top notch stuff. 9/10.
Cod Liver Oil and the Orange Juice - Hamish Imlach
Can't follow the lyrics, but the melody and delivery are top notch. Not a genre I delve into much, I really like this. 8/10.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Sharon Jones - 100 Days, 100 Nights
Obviously a classic, not much to add here. 10/10
Black Joe Lewis - Livin in the Jungle
Pretty good, a little glossy for my preference on this kind of music but that may just be because it came right after the Sharon Jones. 7/10
Kat Wright - By My Side
This was ok, I liked the keys, but it didn't have a lot of energy. Might be better live 5/10
The Inciters - Me Myself and I
Kind of reminds me of The Jam. Seems like the tempo could be pushed maybe 5bpm to match that, but an interesting listen. I could check more of this out. 7/10
Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics - The Man Says
I liked this right away, maybe just because I'm a bassist, but I though the slinkiness and the guitar chop was very pleasant. Good production, this was probably my favorite besides the Sharon Jones. 9/10

I'm still backlogged on Rev's. Still okay to go? I will catch up soon.

I'm pretty sure he's been about on facebook, so he's well I can confirm.

Cool, we'll give him a day and then I'll go. It'll give me more time to catch up.
