Lonnie Donegan - Cumberland Gap
A track I know well. Great energy that you can hear in lots of bands that followed. You can hear it stuff like The Smiths "London". 8/10

Girl in a Coma - Say
A track I heard around 10 years or so ago. Great stuff I dig this good tune great energy. I'm more familiar with this vid.
9/10

Nadine Shah - Club Cougar
Very cool. Like her voice and the way it builds. 7/10

T Hardy Morris - Likes of Me
Great scuzzy guitar on this. Reminds me of another band but I can't quite put my finger on it. 8/10

Sabina - Cinema
Like a cross between Francoise Hardy and Nico. Very cool vibe. 8/10

Hello,

Who's turn now?
Kory, which means five Pearl Jam bootleg deep cuts. Again.
I gotta pass this round guys, sorry.
Kory spoke in class today. :shifty:

Oliver has the next right of refusal.
I haven't been able to keep up with everyone else's, so I didn't think it was fair to be able to post my own this time.

Hello,

Lonnie Donegan - this falls into the Not For Me basket; I can respect his work and talent but every time I hear something of this genre I just think of Beverly Hillbillies reruns.

Girl in a Coma - good vocal style; pretty chaotic guitar (pretty in both senses as in "kind of" as well as "attractive"); I'd like to hear more of their stuff.

Nadine Shah - not bad/decent noise - could use more energy.

T. Hardy Morris - kind of a buzzy, heavy metal-ish guitar sound that I like - a combo of a dangerous and poppy sound that's good.

Sabina - Not For Me - the vocals seem a bit weak/soft/poor.

Great! I know more bands than when I started and I'll look for T. Hardy Morris and Girl in a Coma.

That one sounds cleaner than the version I picked :) Like it was remastered by osmosis or something

I love GIAC. Saw them probably a dozen times in tiny venues (and one big venue as a support act) and they never disappointed,

Lonnie Donegan - Cumberland Gap
Now where's that line about the six feet tall girl from originally? Seems to come up in a lot of songs.
A bit too hectic for me, this one.

Girl in a Coma - Say
Love it. Just the right balance between noisy and melodic.

Nadine Shah - Club Cougar
Adorably cool. The video is kinda hypnotic, too. Just couldn't stop watching the cake.

T Hardy Morris - Likes of Me
More excellent stuff. Only rock and roll, but I like it.

Sabina - Cinema
Beautiful. Reminds me a lot of "Femme Fatale," but there is nothing wrong with that. Love the melancholic mood.

This is terrific and his vocal is positively unhinged. 10/10. Love it.

Girl in a Coma - Say
Great riffs, great vocals, great energy. That's an El Scorcho homage at 2:45 right? A little aimless if I had to be critical, but I like it a lot. 8/10.

Nadine Shah - Club Cougar
I like aspects of this. The horn and drum arrangement and alternating between sparse bass/drums and the bigger parts. Vocals don't do a lot for me, but this is pretty good. 6/10.

T Hardy Morris - Likes of Me
Nice scuzzy crunchy rock. I keep waiting for the one melody to bend major, but it stays minor. It's good but doesn't move me a ton. 6/10.

Sabina - Cinema
Getting a big Nico/VU vibe to this. Reading others' takes now, I'm not the only one to notice a Nico similarity. I like it. Love the instrumentation and the journey the song takes you on. 7.5/10.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I have no idea. It seems too close to be a coincidence but I never heard them ever mention Weezer as an influence.
