Has anyone heard of this release by Keith Levene?
Meeting Joe: Joe Strummer, the Clash & Me By Keith Levene
It's a book (looks like only 45 pages) and there is suppose to be an EP called "Meeting Joe"
The EP is comprised of all new tunes with the exception of “What’s My Name.”
I found this article by accident at this website http://www.mixgrill.gr/ar32534en-fm-to- ... clash.html
Interesting article. It's got me thinking about grabbing the Kindle version of the book.

I got the kindle version. Would I recommend it? It's OK.

Hello,

Does anyone have details about the EP? I'd be very interested. I have some Keith Levene solo stuff - it's some good stuff, some not-so-good stuff.

KL is such a frustrating figure. When he's on—or, rather, someone is focusing him—he's dead-on brilliant. Yet there's a lot of dicking-around stuff in his history.

Don't think the ep got released though 'What's My Name" was on YouTube.

It's on the hard to find ltd album "CZ2014"

No I don't have it.

You are the go to guy Marky!
Please know how much you are appreciated.
I have some digital dollars from amazon, so I’m going to download the book for the kindle.

A small follow up on the book...
I bought the kindle version and I’m glad I had free digital dollars. Very generalized statements throughout the short book. No “meat and potatoes” and nothing new except for his assertion that he recruited Joe to join The Clash.
I was hoping for more early behind the band info.
Oh well

But not surprising. Always felt like a money grab.

I can't imagine Keith's rolling in dough one way or another.

I did say "it's OK" further up. Nothing more.

About 7 or 8 years ago I stumbled on a track called “The 13th Whole” by Keith Levene, 7:03 in length. It was on his myspace page (linked below) but I was never able to download from there. I don’t remember much about it other than I think it was strictly instrumental. I played it a ton of times and really liked it, but it’s been years since I could get it to work from that page and I have no idea where else to find it. I’ve searched google a bunch of times over the years but can’t find it anywhere. Anyone know where else I could find it or if it’s available on a cd of his?

Doesn't appear to be on a cd anywhere. Possibly recorded around the time he did Murder Global.

I've got Keith's "Search For Absolute Zero" cd/dvd and was hoping it was on there but sadly not.

Yeah, it might not have been released elsewhere outside his myspace page. Oh well, maybe it will turn up somewhere. Thanks for checking.

Interesting article. It's got me thinking about grabbing the Kindle version of the book.
I bought the 'hard copy' of the book, which turned out to be a sheaf of multi-coloured A4 pages, tied into a folder between two hardboard covers.
The pages were just printouts from a laser printer, in fairly large type, with occasional B/W photos, and the cover was decorated with a hand-drawn design in chalk and crayons by the look of it. Very 'DIY punk fanzine / naive primitive art' ( <--- delete according to preference)
I'd upload a photo, but am not sure where I put it right now(!)
I thought it was an interesting read, although it did feel a bit of a rip-off in its presentation. I can't remember the price but it was more than a usual hardback book would cost. And I never got an EP or even musical download, just a link to one track on youtube which was freely available anyway.
Despite that, I enjoyed reading it. It certainly conjurs up what it was like to be young during an interesting time in London's music scene, and the excitement of putting a band together. And perhaps surprisingly is full of genuine fondness for the band and for Joe.
I ordered the book through a long-defunct website and when I received it, I seem to recall I got an email or two from Keith asking for my feedback etc. That was neat, connecting with him briefly, although I can't find the emails and they came via the book's website rather than a personal address, so fat chance of contacting him again that way.

But I've just tried searching for the website and found this, which suggests the whole thing was a co-production between Keith and a partner, and there was some fund-raising for mental health charity or something. Which is news to me!

And Keith did do a bit of self promotion at the time (2014/2015 or so) such as this interview, and I think he was a panellist at some Punk's 40th Anniversary event or something. But seems to have gone to ground again.
