Hopefully this link won't be too restricted by regions etc... Wilko Johnson interviews his old mate and bass player Norman Watt Roy.
They're on good form, and of course the Clash get a lot of mentions, especially from about half way through. No real revelations, but you can tell the Blockheads camp and the Clash were always big mates.

Funny, was only thinking about Norman a little while ago as i heard My Old Man and Clever Trevor on the radio and struck me that the bass is almost the best thing about them. What a player he was and is. Two legends, will have a listen to this later. Thanks for posting.

Norman Watt-Roy the best bass player I've ever seen. Wilko a fantastic guitar player and a rock n roll gent.

Norman Watt-Roy the best bass player I've ever seen. Apart from when I get a load of Kory.

I'll vouch for a real gent. I went into my local one Friday teatime and although it was pretty crowded I was able to get a spot at the bar to get the round in. The guy standing there asked if I had enough room and I must have been the only person in the pub to recognise it was Norman Watt-Roy. We got chatting, I handed the pints over to my two mates, and had about half an hour with this great man. The Blockheads were playing at a hall up the road that night so he had to scarper after we'd shared a few brandies. Lovely guy.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 6:08pmNorman Watt-Roy the best bass player I've ever seen. Wilko a fantastic guitar player and a rock n roll gent.
