He was responsible for so much great music, but ultimately suffered from some deep emotional / mental demons that took a life and ruined his.
God, what a mess, on the ladder of success

He was a monster from the start all the way to the end, though some of his creations are transcendent.

The headline is (as usual for these things), my favorite part. But this is a great line.
OJ Simpson was the best running back of all time, John Wayne Gacy was an incredible clown, and Phil Spector is a genius.
