Who voted for "disgrace"? And was that a sincere opinion or an attack on Heston?
SINCERE
Awesome. I love pure loathing of songs (any songs).

We're waiting for Wire to have a new album.

7 votes for "brilliant, it should be the national anthem" is why we're still talking about it.

Kory's probably thinking about the 58% who are saying that it's, at best, a good song.

Probably mostly of interest to Heston, but this guy does good breakdowns of songs where he isolated a lot of the instrumentation and highlights a lot of the nuances in recordings. Here's his on More Than a Feeling:
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Yes! Love stuff like this. Gonna stick it on soon. The production nuances in that song are unreal, especially when the vocal actually turns into a guitar.

Just rewatched and forgot about the 12-string acoustic in the chorus and the falsetto vocal in the prechorus.

It's a shared cultural ignorance. We all just go about our lives and suddenly, kerblammo, there's a new Wire album.

Just watched and it's fair to say the guy tears apart Doc's argument that the song is humdrum in parts. The level of sonic detail and melodic power across the whole song is actually mind blowing. Many thanks for this, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yet I'm bored as hell during most of it. Explain that, Dr. Heston, if that's really your name.
