Quite! Just like next week I am not seeing the Undertones/Hugh Cornwell with Deny. It would have been good for him to be on the correct side of the Pennines for once.

Laxwife has suggested I play an SLF album instead. I guess it has to be "Now Then ..."

Laxwife is correct of course. I'm not sure Deny was ready to be on the correct side of the pennines though.

Now Then ... now playing. Just checked because I had a recollection that I had one of those edited highlights flexi singles that were the rage for a while. I was correct. As well as one for Now Then ... I have one for the Holy Bible and one for Dog Man Star too. That's a bit spooky.

p.s. I was supposed to be reciprocating with Deny - we were scheduled to see the Stranglers/Ruts DC in Leeds. It has been rescheduled but sadly one less Strangler now.

I've still got a Professionals flexi with an edited Little Boys and a track by Gillan.

It doesn't say on it but I think it might well have been Melody Maker. The Suede and Manics ones were from the NME. I haven't got the Professionals one. Strange band pairing, but a lot of the freebies were like that.

The whole EP on the end of the reissued Now Then .. is great. From memory I bought that CD on the back of Heston's review above.

I thought it was part of the original album for the longest time. On the CD reissue it’s tacked onto the end of the album. They probably come from the same recording session anyways.

Love that song. The whole EP is great apart from the chorus to Listen. Just too anthemic and cheesy.
