Quick Manics question: A few years back I heard a remixed version of Stay Beautiful on the radio. It sounded much better than the original release, does anyone know where this might exist?
Possibly the remixed version from reissued Generation Terrorists album. Sounds clearer than the original released single/cd. The keys sound louder around the one minute mark. But the whole thing is pushed to the max just barely under the parameters. Here you can see the original cd single and the remastered version.
This was quite a drastic remix iirc. Maybe the radio just made it sound different.
Listening to KISS while on magic mushrooms can do strange things to your ears. ;)
Hey, I'm a fun guy.
Still leaves mush room for improvement.

Just showing as "guest" now. Maybe he was a figment of our imagination.

I hope not. I've enjoyed my discussions with him.

What do you think? I really like it. I think it's better than Resistance. I like the melancholy vibe set against an almost wistful 70's pop backdrop. Plenty of solid guitar playing from JDB. An occasional clunky couplet, but overall Nicky's lyrics are excellent. They've long been one of my favorite bands, so glad to hear them still making compelling music.

I haven't played the whole CD enough because I keep playing The Secret He Had Missed. I think that is now right up there with my favourite Manics songs. I must start listening to the whole thing a bit more, but I agree that it is a good one.

They went a bit OTT in the marketing campaign last week but it paid off because they managed to get it to number 1 in the charts.

Yeah, that's a good one. I also really like Quest for Ancient Colour, Diapause, Into the Waves of Love.

I missed this when it was released last year but better late than never.

"Spectators of Suicide was originally recorded for Manic Street Preachers 1991 EP You Love Us, their last release for Heavenly Recordings. Although they only recorded seven tracks for the label, the band have always acknowledged Heavenly’s role in their evolution from Valleys punk rock anomalies to most talked about band in Britain in the space of seven months. Spectators was the first time the Manics stretched out, slowed down and showed they were capable of so much more than glorious, visceral rock’n’roll. Following Motown Junk, Spectators of Suicide was Manic Street Preachers' next step to greatness.

This new version of Spectators of Suicide was recorded to coincide with the publication of Believe In Magic: The First Thirty Years of Heavenly Recordings. It features Heavenly artist Gwenno on guest vocals singing both an English and a Welsh version of the original lyrics and Rhys Edwards on additional guitar. It was produced by Loz Williams at Door to the River Studios and mixed by Dave Eringa.

100% of profits will go directly to the following chosen charities:

Missing People is an independent charity and the only lifeline for missing people and their families in the UK.

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and provides emergency food and support to people locked in poverty.

This is one of the best songs they've ever done.
