Any Japanese Rock fans here?
A lot of this stuff is criminally underrated in the west. Super unique aesthetic. I don’t really listen to much past 2000 when the Visual Kei thing became to overbearing but to be honest I kind of still admire the over the top ness.
My top picks:
Buck Tick
Luna Sea
X Japan
Fishmans
Boowy
Ningen Isu

Good stuff!

Hello,
I don't know much - mostly these guys. I did have an idea for a thread - kind of a passport thread. On Monday, someone posts a country and some music from said country. All week people are encouraged to either post or view music from somewhere else. Next week - new country.
Here's Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.

Shonen Knife.
When I was in Japan I saw a flyer for like the Japanese Misfits but I couldn't find out where it was happening.

I believe the drummer for Fishmanns plays in TSO these days. They’re really good live.gkbill wrote: ↑18 Mar 2021, 10:53amHello,

One KISS is more than enough for anyone! But I will check them out.RockNRollWhore wrote: ↑18 Mar 2021, 12:32pmHeston, you might really like X Japan. Kindered souls with Kiss tbh.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I've watched this video at least 100 times since last year, it's outstanding.coffeepotman wrote: ↑18 Mar 2021, 2:15pmSaw this band in Kyoto, nothing tops this....the future of punk rock!
I used to listen to Hi-Standard a bit back in the day, but a couple others:

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I was in Japan in the early internet days and didn't even have a computer so I wasn't able to find any musical happenings.

I've seen Shonen Knife. I saw Thee Michelle Gun Elephant back in the early 90s.
