If this is correct, it supports my belief that the vinyl boom is about distinction. That is, if most people listen via streaming or downloads—something immaterial, aside from the player—vinyl is a conspicuous way of standing out as separate from the crowd. Not everyone, of course, but clearly people without a turntable are buying for reasons other than listening.

The Beatles had some great cover art but the cover for this new single is awful.
