Got Any Cool Vinyl?

Post by Sparky »

So who has some cool looking or rare vinyl they’d like to show off?
I've always liked vinyl, sitting in my room as a kid, holding the LP jacket, looking at all the liner notes while listening to my favorite bands…..ahhh, memories. Holding a CD jewel box just doesn’t have the same effect on me.
So I’ll start this off with one of my favorites:
Dangerhouse records “Yes L.A.” released in 1979. 6 bands, 6 songs, including X & the Germs. Clear vinyl, grooves cut on one side only, smooth back side with silk screened song info.

I liked the "Not produced by Brian Eno" line.

I should have been more specific...anything vinyl - LP's, EP's, 45's, 78's, jackets, sleeves...anything but jewel boxes.
Here's another I think is kind of interesting. Promo copy of the Ramones "Pleasant Dreams" with a letter from the record company explaining who they are and about the album.

Another oldie but goodie. Go Go's back when they were considered part of the LA punk scene and used to play the Cuckoo's Nest. Their first single came out on Stiff Records - "We Got The Beat" / "How Much More" 7" 45 RPM single.

It's all very honest and, uh, uplifting.

Another from my record box.
I love the Jam, but for some reason they never really took off in the US, so when I wanted to find more of their stuff, I'd have to search imports, both UK & Japanese. Scored these two at the same time, pretty sure the Japanese vinyl is of higher quality than the domestic stuff, but it wasn't so much about the vinyl quality here, it was about being able to hear new stuff from a band I really liked.

Those are great, Sparky!

I don't have my records with me, but the one that sticks out to me for whatever reason is a hideous Transplants picture disc that looks like this:

I've never seen that one before, very collectible. Do you have any trouble getting it to play on a turntable because of the shape?
I get a kick out of picture disks, think I've got a couple I'll post soon.

I think you can pick it up for like $5 on discogs! It plays fine because the playable part is actually just the head part. I thought it looked cool when I was 18. :disshame:

I've got this and it plays fine despite the shape.
