The Heartbreakers – L.A.M.F. - The Found '77 Masters

Post by JChampion »

I was wondering if anyone bought this RSD release? I know it was late coming out for RSD and is of course now sold out.
It's going for big bucks on ebay (surprise, surprise) but I was wondering if the tracks are really that much better then any one of the many releases that have already been put out? It seems like every year there is a new "cleaner" version released. The booklet/artwork packaging is intriguing to me but has anybody heard this latest version?

Like you I shied away from it at RSD because I already had L.A.M.F. as well at L.A.M.F. - the Lost Mixes. I wasn't sure if it was going to be an upgrade. Would love to hear some of it was well for comparison sake.

It's supposed to be released on CD sometime. Waiting for that.

Thanks BR16ADE_R055E, much clearer, cleaner sound. I'm going to be on the lookout for the reissue in CD format now.

Can’t wait. My LP is supposed to arrive Thursday. The clip of Born to Lose sounds great.

Wasn't able to snag a copy anywhere near me but the samples sound great. It'll be released digitally in October and I think they're already planning on a standard black vinyl release in the future. Shouldn't be too hard to get a copy of this in your Preferred Format within the next year or so.

Thank you everyone for the update!
I'll definitely be on board for the cd with the hope that it has some of the packaging included.

Got my LP. It does sound really good but I wouldn’t worry about getting the vinyl. It’s a mediocre pressing from GZ. The digital release should be that much better. I just couldn’t wait. Even Jerry would probably be pleased.

Thanks for the Intel. Stoked for a wider release of this one later this year.

The clip sounds fantastic. I will be picking it up to go along with the other versions of L.A.M.F. I already have...

The story told in that video above where there was a mastering error resulting in a muddy version being released is mind-boggling. Was it a financial decision to not re-press the records? Seems like they could have created more buzz by trying to withdraw the bad copies, making them collectible.

Probably. The record company went under shortly thereafter. There is evidence that Track only signed the band as a tax dodge, perhaps to show that they were a viable record company instead of a giant deduction for Stamp and Lambert. The original contract for the Heartbreakers actually reads “The Chris Stamp Band”.

I heard/read that the original cassette sounds fine (not muddy).
