As a collector I want(ed) it all. With the Sex Pistols that was milked to death. But it was fun eventually getting stuff. Would I be satisfied with mp3s. I doubt that as I like to play around with stuff so Wav or Flac files are what I like but I love all the artwork so much. So I need my physical copy with a book and a badge blah blah. Do I really need this stuff, no of course not. Do I want it, hell yeah.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑27 Dec 2021, 7:12pmIt really was a different world pre-Internet / P2P piracy. Yes, there was a thrill of finding something I'd never heard before, but I don't think it was the satisfaction of the chase, it was just being ravenous back in those days. I'd have been as thrilled to gain those demos and boots as mp3's (and my wallet would have been fatter).Marky Dread wrote: ↑27 Dec 2021, 6:38pmYeah you can frame it like that and of course Virgin swallowed it all up. Releasing as many singles as possible from the Swindle album. As long as the product had something I never previously had then I would happily buy it. But by the time of FaDH I had enough. I was only interested in the demos and live albums with bits of soundbites. But they in turn were an unbelievable minefield and con. However some of those semi legit albums were a lifeline to certain band members.

Very neat (and cheap) eBook that I recently discovered where various people talk about how finding punk changed their lives. I suspect it'd resonate with many, if not most, of us here. I'll be using a few of the stories in my seminar in January.

Awesome. I have some Amazon digital credits so this is a perfect use for those. Sounds like a great read.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑16 Dec 2022, 11:30amVery neat (and cheap) eBook that I recently discovered where various people talk about how finding punk changed their lives.
