I have been a few weeks without doing my Friday review, so I could use a KISS injection.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

That's the virus talking. Its like how rabies prevents you from drinking water and makes you drool/foam at the mouth so you can spread it to others.

Here, go to town. Bonus points for figuring out why Gene is bragging about women being attracted to his heterosexuality.

They used to wear makeup? :shifty:

Yeesh, even 70s KISS was bad.

We're quickly running out of decades for Kiss to having possibly been good in.

60ft Dolls: Dr. Rat
This is cool. I don't normally go for rock-rock, but the mood of this is quite good and I really like the use of the tritone in there. Good bass presence in relation to the guitars too.

Eddie Floyd: people, Get It Together
Great track, great instrumentation. I always get vertigo when the drums are hard panned, would definitely like to hear a mono version of this.

Hawkwind: High Rise
Simply splendid. No notes.

I still hold out hope for "Monster" proving the 2010s were the "good" KISS era.

Paul has said that he's cool with the idea of KISS continuing without he and Gene (as long they still get a strong cut of all income, of course), so I'm open to a post-Paul & Gene version.

I suppose it couldn't be worse?

Theoretically it could be worse, but in practice I'm not sure.

60ft Dolls - Dr Rat. This is cool, nice guitar work. Not entirely sure about the chorus but the rest is, well, cool! Would like to hear more from them. Edit, upon a 3rd listen the chorus is less jarring and good fun. 8/10.

Eddie Floyd - People, Get It Together. Love horns done well, another cool tune. Got me moving about, love the bass in there, good funky fun. 8/10.

Hawkwind - High Rise. In a different mood, I could get behind this but I'm just not feeling it today. Not keen on the vocals, and generally not my bag, but certainly not a bad track. 6/10.

Cheers Marky!
