Who the hell would follow up the masterpiece that is Paranoid with any phil collins drek?Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 2:01amYesterday I was in B & Q buying some paint with my neighbour. I was smiling thinking rev would blow a fuse in this store which is kind of handy.
I will also add as I was leaving I heard the beginning of Stairway to Heaven and it seemed the perfect way to leave.

That’s the one Phil Collins song that is supposed to be “good.”revbob wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 8:51amWho the hell would follow up the masterpiece that is Paranoid with any phil collins drek?Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 2:01amYesterday I was in B & Q buying some paint with my neighbour. I like the gaps of silence between his songs. Two seconds of perfection, every one of ‘em.revbob wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 10:02amAnd if you think that you're so very wrong. I heard Billy Joel's Allentown at the store last night. It's been lodged in my head ever since. What a turgid piece of crap.

I was in the liquor store and Roxanne was on. Fucking awful song.
. How the fuck old is Roxanne ? Because Im pretty sure Sting was old enough to not be competing with boys.I won't share you with another boy

I once drove thru Pennsylvania, heading west, fairly early in the morning. I know I went by Allentown and my recollection is that I looked to my left and I saw a nuclear power plant. Maybe my memory is faulty—can one actually see the plants from the interstate?—but it was a jolt. I'd never actually seen those curved structures outside of photos. Fuck Billy Joel.WestwayKid wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 5:07pmI heard Billy Joel's Allentown at the store last night. It's been lodged in my head ever since. What a turgid piece of crap.

I can't stand it for Sting's braying "Rawwwwwwks-anne." However, the song was partially and inadvertently redeemed by its prominent use in Community's brilliant chaos theory episode. Whenever you get to the "Rawwwwwwks-anne" part, you get to have Jeff interrupt with "Nope!"

Yeah context still escapes me but the song still blows. I remember my brother bringing home some Police records. He'd previously had good taste in music but boy what a disappointment.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 7:38pmrevbob wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 7:34pmI'm not familiar but yeah Sting sucksDr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 7:04pmI can't stand it for Sting's braying "Rawwwwwwks-anne." Hello,
I'm more favorable of the Police than most here. They brought a reggae-influence into pop music - a very good thing - more so they most other artists. I met Sting in 1979. He was a good guy and we had a good conversation. Based on reading a few interviews, he's become pretentious. Okay, I can deal with that. To deny the catch-i-ness of Message in a Bottle is a false mission. Listen to So Lonely and not sing along - I dare you. I understand I'm taking an unpopular stand with the regulars.

I think Doc is on record as a Police Enjoyer. I like 'em, although less so their later albums. I've always been meaning to do a police comp of some of what I think of as their more interesting stuff. There's at least a CDs worth of material I'd think would pass most punk's muster.gkbill wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 10:58pmHello,
