The grocery store (and gas station) music thread

Post by WestwayKid »

Taking off from my earlier songs I've heard while shopping discussions, here's a place to discuss the ultimate grocery store songs. I heard this gem last night:

Eddie Money is a prime grocery store music performer.

I've heard this more than a few times. Even if I didn't already hate Elton John, this would make me hate Elton John.

Yeah that and "They Call it the Blues" or whatever. That song is so awful on par with Phil Collins another grocery store abomination.

And add "The Heat is On" by dbag from the eagles, to this list of horrors.

Couldn't believe I heard this song in Walmart of all places. Only a anal-retentive BTO fan would even know of the song so of course I had to immediately start singing it as I shopped, my lady was like "you know the shittiest music" and I didn't care, lol. I love Fred Turner's voice, such a great howl he has. I was in total shock hearing it there. It was on what they called "Walmart Radio", whatever the fongul THAT is.
From what I see there's still a little hope
That's if we don't hang from too much rope

I'll probably piss some people off but Steppin' Out by Joe Jackson is total grocery store music (my local grocery has it in regular rotation).

Hello,

I'm a big Joe Jackson supporter but the above is correct. It's odd as Joe has this song as well (listen to the lyrics):

In the supermarket there is music while you work
It drives you crazy, sends you screamin' for the door
Work there for a year or two and you can get to like it
I don't work in supermarkets anymore

It's so easy, it's so easy
Grab can, lift arm, stack can, turn around
It's so easy, it's so easy
Do the instant mash, do the instant mash
Do the instant mash, make an instant smash
Doin' the instant mash

That player all other fanbases hate and even their own fans have to admit they'd despise them if they were on a different team.

This is funny. I admit to not really being familiar with JJ. My brother brought home an album and it never stuck for me. This aint a bad song though.
