My older brother and one of my uncles always played Sabbath when I was much younger, so I kinda grew up with them, but I don't love them.

What's the best Tony Martin album? I say Headless Cross, even though it only features one original member. That said, it's a great line up.

I'm in the ok bracket. Decent in small doses with a great track here and there.
Have never done a deep dive on them, but this is where I stand.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I think you'd be converted if you sampled a few of their early albums. Pretty much everything they released in the 70s is killer.

What's the song with the hi hats? That's a good one.

Haven't heard either before, but as a response to "the song with hi hats," both these songs make sense. Good excuse to expose me to more deep Sabbath cuts.

the first 6 Sabbath albums are really strong. Ranking them for me is very difficult. I love Master Of Reality but its so damn short. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is really great, so is Sabotage, the first album is so good, I'm a big fan of the early Sabbath no question.

I am pleased to see that my wariness here was unwarranted.

Early Sabbath rules! That said, I'm one of the board's confirmed metalheads.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

"Under The Sun" is one of my favorite Sabbath songs. The lyrics are outstanding. The riffs are outstanding.
The last verse ....
So believe what I tell you, it’s the only way to fight in the end
Just believe in yourself, you know you really shouldn’t have to pretend
Don’t let those empty people try and interfere with your mind
Just live your life and leave them all behind

Awesome stuff.
