You're still a thing? Bands that you thought were finished but are playing the local casino this week

So, what bands have you been surprised to find out still exist, with people making money off it?

I've mentioned in the past being shocked to learn that both The Fixx and .38 Special still play shows. Can you imagine being excited that .38 Special, who were shitty when they were in their "prime," are playing as a bunch of 60 year olds?

Hello,

Based on the earlier thread, I did some digging and listened to Squeeze's latest effort (Food for Thought). I haven't listened to them in probably 15-20 years. The EP (?) was pretty good. I'm happy to see they're still touring - nowhere near me, though. This was a happy surprise.

I'm not so sure about this:

I guess Foghat were a bit of harmless fun.

Heaven 17. I suspect most people could only name 2 songs and they're still touring after 40 years?
To be fair though, they are two bangers that still sound good.

I've mentioned this before, but a few bands that are not only still around and touring, but have regularly released albums over the last 20 years:
Papa Roach - albums in 1997, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022
Powerman 5000 - 1995, 1997, 1999 (their only platinum album), 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

A band i always really liked. Play To Win is an absolute corker, travesty it didn't even break the top 40. I assume a lot of those 80s bands are still on the go, pretty lucrative industry these days, it seems.

Quiet Riot began in 1973 and is still going, even tho there are exactly zero original members left.

Hello,

If I was in Quiet Riot, I'd quit too.

I noticed from the glitzy billboards on my travels that the beach boys are playing some fine casino-based venues this summer.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Pex Lives!

Not a band but was listening to the radio the other night and they introduced a new, or relatively new anyway, track by Smokey Robinson and it sounded pretty good.

Also nice to know Uriah Heep, my favourite band named after a Dickens character, are still on the go and have announced an upcoming world tour with relative spring chickens, Judas Priest and Saxon.

Shakin' Stevens' new song has been getting plaudits for its social conscience and change of direction. I listened and personally thought it was shit. Give me Green Door any day.

After all these years he's still shakin'? Sounds like an undiagnosed neurological condition to me.
