Anthems had some good moments, and I thought Pete's recent album with that French muso was very good. I'll listen, obviously not expecting it to be as exciting as they were on Up the Bracket.

Exactly how I feel regards them also.

Carl Barat's odd obsession with chicken - previously seen in the terrible chorus of a DPT song about sitting on a throne of chicken bones - appears as the only genuine clanger of a line on the new single.

Hello,

He's gained weight - kind of a good sign regarding the addiction issues but not a healthy sign overall.

Not for me....I remember one night in the Dublin castle Carl Barratt sliding in next to my Mrs while I was at the bar and opening up with "Hi I'm Carl from the libertines"...Sadies reply was "I can't stand the libertines" (she's from good no nonsense Yorkshire stock)...Mr Barratt then quickly slithered away as I returned and motioned he best fuck off out of my seat... as for the music , I always resented the clash comparison, they are no where near even with Micks assistance.

Yeah, any Clash comparison is completely off. The Smiths and the Buzzcocks are clearly bigger influences.

Add in the early Kinks and yeah not far off.

The Libertines then went away and wrote "Can't Stand Me Now". So they probably owe Sadie some royalties.

Interesting to hear him address the death of Mark Blanco, not sure I've heard him speak about it before, certainly not at that length.

Yeah a very cowardly junkie thing to do but he didn't kill him. He ran off in fear of getting caught with gear on him.
