Pretty serviceable is a good way to describe the Foo Fighters. They can get annoying as modern rock staples, but their music isn't really that bad, just kind of dull.Flex wrote:I'm not big Foo Fighters fan, but I was pleasantly surprised by their cover of Down in the Park. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

In terms of beating out the original, no. He recorded it at a pretty naive stage of his career so he's not quite got the gravitas the song needs. But as a good song by itself, it's fine. My favourites from Nick are when he covers Leonard Cohen.Phil Collins wrote:Yay.

I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I was curious what Pomplamoose have been up to, seeing as their early covers were rather endearing. They seem to have become a Muzak band. The only thing I kinda like is her extremely reserved delivery.
