I love Killtaker, but it definitely has a harshness and is top-end heavy. I think that’s part of why I love it as a singular work, but I can see a bassist being a bit let down.Kory wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 3:53pmKilltaker is a favorite of mine, but I wish the bass were a little more present. Weirdly, I felt like there was a short lived local backlash in my local scene against Killtaker for being retrograde and too much of an attempt to sound hard.

It doesn't turn me off enough to knock it out of my top 3 albums of theirs, but I wouldn't mind getting the bass stems and pairing them up with what we already have to see what it sounds like with a little more bass.Wolter wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 6:20pmI love Killtaker, but it definitely has a harshness and is top-end heavy. I don't think we have a DC hardcore thread, so this is close enough. Came across on Open Library a scanned copy of the book Banned in DC, a mostly photographic documenting of the early scene. It's well out of print and pricey now, so I made a copy. Here ya go, dingleberries: https://mega.nz/file/dR9k1CKb#VhUkdwUXQ ... RG8l0XldaI

That that panel is from the 1950s (maybe early 60s?) makes it choice.
Moreover, I'd really like to think that when Chuck hit mid-adolescence, he discovered punk as a way out of the cruel bullshit of his life. Wouldn't even have to shave his head.
