Ready to support what will surely be his artistically impressive solo career

A bit sad how messy he has been. Hopefully he gets some help. His timeline matches up well with Jani Lane - have commercial success then play nostalgia circuit for 20 years and have sloppy on stage appearances before succumbing to your addictions.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It is always weird to learn some bands are still together and touring. Like, Saxon basically releases a solid album of traditional heavy metal every couple of years and tours to apparently decent sized crowds. And it's not like they were ever really a major act beyond NWOBHM fans.
Follow up: Saxon released an album 2021 and Powerman 5000 released an album in 2020.

I don't remember this getting any kind of radio or MTV play but man this is a fun song:

It immediately grabs you from the opening riff. "In the Meantime" is a classic in my books and I'm glad to find out they had some other solid tunes.

I kinda liked that back in the day—it caught my ear because it sampled Penguin Cafe Orchestra's "Telephone and Rubber Band" (which I only knew as the closing song of Talk Radio—but listening to it now, it seems like firm dad rock. It ain't awful, but I sorta winced.
