It's weird for me that anything that sounds like a 90s throwback is immediately off-putting in a "why would I want to endure that again?" kinda way. Particularly musically.
Same here. I have a disdain for much of the music and culture of the 90's, which is weird because the 90's was age 13-22 for me. I don't feel much fondness for it. I'm fonder of the 80's, which was when I was a young kid. I rarely ever say to myself, "man, I want to go listen to some 90's music". I will on occasion play something. Pavement, for instance, but the music/culture that is now packaged around the 90's doesn't hold much interest.

Yeah, put 80s instead of 90s and yeah.

There really might be something to the idea that Nirvana fucking ruined things in a lot of ways, however unintentionally. They introduced commercial possibility to the underground and encouraged a pointlessness to it all. Now, that's way too sweeping and unfair to pin on one band, but some lousy shit was unleashed in the wake of their success. A solid band, but I associate them with all kinds of lousy music in that decade.

This is the correctest of statements.

The best moments have been when the record industry didn't know what the fuck it was doing and/or felt in peril. Throughout most of the 60s, the industry was slow to figure out rock; in the late 70s and early 80s, the industry overindulged in disco and almost drowned in unsold records; and the P2P revolt in the 00's left the business scrambling to figure out how to survive. Good things happen artistically when the assholes in the towers don't know what to do.

Black Dots was released in the 90s but recorded in the 70s.

And White Lines was in the 80s.

Yes but I was listening to Little Red Rooster on Blue Monday which confused me into thinking that Everything's Gone Green so I decided to Paint It Black.

Hello,

I'm not convinced that is the original black dot. It's a replicate - and it's a swindle.

An emulation of it's greatness.
