Collective Soul...I guess...
OMC or Mad Season?
(How the FUCK do I remember these bands...I was obviously very musically aware between the ages of 8 and 10...)

Re: Hey Flex (Late 90's One Hit Wonder Edition)
Since this is the '90s one-hit-wonder thread...
Does anyone remember Eifel 65 and that 'Blue Da Ba Dee' song or whatever it's called? Fucking hell. My entire 4th grade class loved it and I hated it with a passion. I remember being ridiculed for this.

I'm still trying to figure out how you know about EMF if you're 18 now.Suzanne H. wrote:Collective Soul...I guess...

Oh, and Mad Season. River Of Deceit kicks How Bizarre's ass, although I'd hesitate before calling either a hit.
Toadies or The Flys?
(hint - correct answer does NOT rhyme with "Choadies")
(that isn't to be taken as a ringing endorsement of the other band either)

Correction: I'm 19. And I'm not entirely sure how I heard of EMF either...probably through my avid MTV watching at ages 9 thru 11.Still216 wrote:I'm still trying to figure out how you know about EMF if you're 18 now.
How Bizarre is kind of awesome. But so is River Of Deceit. I remain undecided.

I already brought up the Flys but Possum Kingdom>>>Got You Where I Want You for many reasons. One being the lack of white rapper.Still216 wrote:I'm still trying to figure out how you know about EMF if you're 18 now.Suzanne H. wrote:Collective Soul...I guess...

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I certainly remember hearing EMF.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

They were inescapable for like 3 years. "Unbelievable" was the "Hey Now, You're and All-Star..." of the early 90s.eumaas wrote:I certainly remember hearing EMF.

Great, thanks for the relapse. I had finally blocked that song from memory.Wolter wrote:They were inescapable for like 3 years. "Unbelievable" was the "Hey Now, You're and All-Star..." of the early 90s.eumaas wrote:I certainly remember hearing EMF.

Re: Hey Flex (Late 90's One Hit Wonder Edition)
I actually don't mind Unbelieveable very much. I kinda like to imagine its a version of mainstream, badly-done fake Madchester even though it isnt.
Smash Mouth's All Star on the other hand...my 8 year old self was OBSESSED with that song when it came out...

Re: Hey Flex (Late 90's One Hit Wonder Edition)
Smash Mouth was far from the worst thing to come out of the late 90's. I enjoyed some of the singles that I heard on the radio. They were decent pop songs with occasional retro organ sounds and stuff. Steve what's his face's voice was pretty weak though. I'm going to go ahead and say Nu-metal was probably the worst part of the turn of the millennium although I will defend a POD or Korn song now and then.Suzanne H. wrote:I actually don't mind Unbelieveable very much. I liked a few Smash Mouth songs.
