I read this the other day and thought the timing was a bit off. If I was still a PW fan, I don't turn 40 for another couple months. There's gotta be people my age that continued liking them after 8th grade.
You mean Flex?

And we're right to do so!

I'm pretty sure I still have that Harvey danger CD in a box somewhere

Pleased when I realised that you hadn't accidentally omitted any letters.

Theoretically, given the mix title, the song choices are suited to please her, not necessarily me. Travis Barker's drumming makes me flaccid.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I think the title means the music is supposed to benefit you. You're performing the labour here, which the title confirms, so the music is about improving your effort.

For the record, I do own a Blink 182 album, but it is their Greatest Hits. The only deep cut I'm familiar with is the pretty good "Mutt" from the American Pie soundtrack that I got for free.
