That's my attitude toward solos in general. There are always exceptions, but solos tend to take me out of the song, leaving me to just endure things. A solo should be a bridge, a sensible connection between sections of the song, not something that kills the song's momentum.
So what's your concert schedule looking like?

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Going to Punk in Drublic tomorrow. An event for old fucks like us. Beer tasting in the afternoon then punk rock into the night. Pretty killer lineup this year for Denver;
All Waffle Trick (decent local pop punk-ska outfit)
Cheap Perfume (very cool local female-fronted militant punk rock)
Pkew Pkew Pkew (I just know these guys from comps. they seem fine-ish but they're canadian so big red flag there)
Bad Cop Bad Cop (feel like this band got a big name when they hit a year or two before the pandemic, looking forward to this set)
Bridge City Sinners (these guys were in someone's packet right? Should be another good one)
Dwarves (these guys always fuckin' rule. haven't seen 'em since like 2018 I think, can't wait for this set)
T.S.O.L. (Legends. I had a skip the jerks tour that had these guys and I've never seen em before so I'm thrilled)
Adolescents (another legendary band I've never seen live)
The Suicide Machines (a band I've always felt I should be more into than I am. Should still be fun. Might be a good snack break time)
Circle Jerks (As mentioned, had to skip the Jerks the last time they were around. I've seen OFF! and FLAG a couple times but never the Jerks, so really looking forward to this. All time greats)
Pennywise (eh, I saw these guys once. I've been listening to their records all week and remembered I don't think they're that great. They have a decent setlist's worth of material, which I'm sure is what they'll play)
NOFX (saw them last year and have seen em a bunch of times. Honestly, Fat Mike's shtick felt tired last year and the last couple albums haven't really clicked for me, so I'm less than ecstatic for them to be the headliner. We'll see.)
Going with a buddy. We've mutually agreed there's no shame in bailing after the Circle Jerks if we're feeling done.
Then, if I'm not too rough around the edges Sunday, I'll probably try to hit Slim Cessna's Auto Club at a local pavilion show Sunday evening. Slim & co. never bring less than their best and I haven't seen them since the pandemic, so I'd love to make that.

That's a heck of a lot of bands, I'm not sure I could have made the entire show even back in my prime.Flex wrote: ↑19 Aug 2022, 4:47pmGoing to Punk in Drublic tomorrow. I've seen TSOL, Circle Jerks & Adolescents a few times back when they played small clubs here locally, you won't be disappointed.

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?
Saw Circle Jerks recently and they were fantastic
Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?
Saw the Bouncing Souls and Dropkick Murphys last night at the fair. The Souls set was very short and over before I could acquire and drink my first drink (long lines). Went into the mosh pit again for the 2nd time since the early 90s probably. There was a nice moment where the singer told the crowd that since most of us were benefactors of our families immigrating here you cant turn around now and deny others that same chance. He also had some great anti-Trump things to say. I could tell the reaction to some of these statements was a bit muted especially from those wearing various Boston sports team regalia. They are a band that still attract a lot of shitheads. That said it was a fun show and Im glad I went. My shirt with a FCKNZS logo seemed to confuse a few people.

I almost saw him in NYC back in March, but we ended up doing something else that night.
