I thought it told his story in the only way possible that honored who he was and his never ending artistic journey. A straightforward documentary would have been disappointing. I appreciated that the director only used sound bites from Bowie to tell his story - no talking heads looking back and telling us how great he was. Also, through his thoughtful use of sound and vision, the director (I forget his name) almost seemed to conjure Bowie - to bring him back from beyond.

Yes, totally agree! It was like nothing I've seen before.WestwayKid wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 10:36amI thought it told his story in the only way possible that honored who he was and his never ending artistic journey. My negatives were no Tin Machine and barely nothing from Hours to Blackstar. I've got a huge Bowie collection so I can't wait to get my hands on this so I can make a super extended version.

Yeah, I agree on not enough post Let's Dance-era. They briefly touched upon Outside/Earthling era and then jumped right to Blackstar. That 1995-2003 era is underrated (in my opinion) and worthy of a closer look.coffeepotman wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 1:19pmYes, totally agree! I don't know if David Bowie is God, but at £122 'A Divine Symmetry: The Journey to Hunky Dory' is costing the Heaven and Earth.

Yeah for 4 cds and a bluray it's steep. Plus a lot has been released before. I'm keen on hearing the quality of the Aylesbury gig compared to what I've already got.
But it's a good £40 too much.

Aylesbury is the thing that really interests me. If I buy it, it will be reluctantly because of the amount of material duplicated at that price.Marky Dread wrote: ↑28 Sep 2022, 11:35amYeah for 4 cds and a bluray it's steep. I have a Japanese bootleg of the Aylesbury gig but the sound isn't worthy of a box set. So I hope there's a master tape in much better quality.dave202 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2022, 6:22amAylesbury is the thing that really interests me. Re: The David Bowie is God Thread
This sounds pretty good to me, much better than my boot
Re: The David Bowie is God Thread
That sounds really good compared to al the versions I've heard samples of, doesn't sound like an audience tape. I wonder if it's about to be officially released?

Re: The David Bowie is God Thread
Thanks, I'm going to have to keep an eye out for it, my internet searches keep taking me to various boots.
