No. I think it's more a case of John Gray being in the recording studio when John Lydon did his vocals and John Gray taking the piss and trying to put him off.
The song isn't about John Gray. I think the lyrics are clearly aimed at Malcolm with lines such as "Bourgeoisie Anarchist" and "Your alter-egos a moron".

I suppose technically it's five Johns as there is John "Rambo" Stevens as well.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 5:56pmBest looking of the four Johns based on that photo.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 5:50pmNora Foster, John Lydon, John Gray, Jimmy Lydon.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 5:41pmIn the picture, but not.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 5:37pmJohn Gray in the football helmet.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 5:27pm

He was Johns mate early on but had joined the army. The whole gang of Johns is a bit of a myth though really. It was only either Lydon, Wobble and Gray or John and Sid. They didn't all hang out at the exact same time. It's just that they all happened to be called John.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 6:03pmWas he part of the original group, too?Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 6:02pmI suppose technically it's five Johns as there is John "Rambo" Stevens as well.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 5:56pmBest looking of the four Johns based on that photo.

I suspected it was a bit of a myth. It makes the story better that there's this gang of Johns forcing their way into the narrative.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 6:08pmHe was Johns mate early on but had joined the army.
