New album must be shit, only four stars per Rolling Stone: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/musi ... rs-842052/
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Doesn't even claim it to be a triumphant return to form. Very strange.matedog wrote: ↑31 May 2019, 10:49amNew album must be shit, only four stars per Rolling Stone: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/musi ... rs-842052/

Funny they mention Glen Campbell but not Gordon Lightfoot, as that first single sounds exactly like "Early Morning Rain".matedog wrote: ↑31 May 2019, 10:49amNew album must be shit, only four stars per Rolling Stone: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/musi ... rs-842052/

I thought I'd never buy another Springsteen record, but this "Ties That Bind" box set thing looks pretty interesting.

That cover photo is missing a GETTY IMAGES watermark.
Re: The Dizzle and Jimmy Jizzle's Thread o'Bruce
So here it is, looking pretty neat. And containing just about all the Springsteen I need.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/j ... ed-my-lifeWhen I first ran into Amolak he had his headphones on, and when I asked what he was listening to he told me it was Bruce Springsteen. When I queried his music taste he told me Bruce was a direct line to all that was true in this world. He then handed me some cassettes and instructed me to educate myself.

Not many artists would do this. First song of his Glastonbury set. How many people in that audience had any idea what that song was?

Well Im sure I still like rock n roll but maybe I just dont understand it.Springsteen is so good, the best, at what he does. It’s not even a controversial opinion: you’d have to dislike or misunderstand rock and roll to disagree with it.

Nothing like sweeping, absolutist arguments to persuade those who are skeptical.
